"It's the exact same old tissue, honey, it doesn't make a distinction, ok? It's still going to work the very same way", my exasperated husband hissed into my ear as I got containers after cartons of some 'designer' tissue. DESIGNER TISSUE! Hah, can you even hear me state that? I can't think I really composed 'designer tissue'. Yes, for a graphic designer and author who understands all about the kind of effort one puts into packaging and branding products, I sure fell for it. All the hoopla. The shenanigans. The 'suck 'em in with great copy and fab color combination'. Hey, I am still a customer, bear in mind that. I am entitled to succumb to great packaging, I have a prevailing right to be human.
However they are so pretty ... the packaging. I swear!
They have the 'nature lover' packaging, the 'fruity' packaging, the 'female on the go' product packaging, and then they have the 'kids' product packaging. I got 4 of each style bundles and made a run for the counter with them with my shouting kids and exasperated other half pursuing me in sluggish motion. It was certainly a 'die-hard' moment. You understand, when the hero is escaping from a bunch of wild bad males with gatling gun, and they're contending your feet or something ... and there's a surge behind you ... and whatever takes place in ssslllloooowwwww mmmmooooottttttiiiioooonnnnn.
Well, in this case, I was running for checkout with boxes of tissue paper with elegant product packaging styles on them. I enjoyed the product packaging develops so much, after using up all the tissues in the boxes, I would cut out the styles and place it into my 'needs to keep for recommendation' clear folder. I don't keep a lot of stuff in there due to the fact that I am quite selective about the styles that I like, but these product packaging designs made the cut.
You see, this is the kind of thing that happens when you put some effort into making your packaging style. Yeah, we all have this in the back of our heads ... "Hey, it's PACKAGING! They're going to THROW the PACKAGING away.
However this is what I need to tell you, as a graphic designer and customer. The more effort you put into designing your here packaging, more consumers will stop and take an appearance at your packaging or what's inside the product packaging. Now, does it make sense for me to state now that when they take and stop notice of your packaging, your possibility of getting them to buy your item boosts? Precisely.
You see, the function of packaging is to grab the customer's attention. And without an electrifying product packaging, consumers are going to walk past the loads and heaps of other competitor items ... and yours ... without even understanding you're there! Your product is sitting there on a shelf, for goodness sake, and the only weapon you have is to have a good product packaging. Once they take a look and stop, you've won the preliminary.
Believe about it!
